Below are the recommended devices to gain access inside a residence or commercial establishment to the City's WiFi network:

Indoor Device: 200-500 feet from an access point:

1. Ethernet Connection: Preferred: Ruckus "MM2211" MetroFlex Wireless Access Gateway. The MetroFlex is available from a local distributor in Mountain View, ExpressNets.com. ExpressNets can ship direct and has a support / onsite install option available. The Ruckus MetroFlex is a powerful device with a directional antenna and MIMO technology that automatically locks onto to the strongest signal.
Pros: platform independent, smaller unit, indoors, can lock onto a specific MAC address, directional
Cons: can't add external antenna, higher price point

2. USB Connection: Hawking "HWU54D" or "HWU8DD" USB adapter. These products can be found in electronics retail stores. The Hawking uses a high gain directional antenna and is effective in extending range to about 450 feet from a MetroFi neighborhood access point.
Pros: Small unit, USB, can lock onto a specific MAC address, low price point
Cons: Only PC compatible

Outdoor Device: 500-1000 feet from access point:

1. Power over Ethernet Connection: EnGenius EOC-3220. 5x6 weatherproof self-contained wireless modem (antenna / CPE). The mounting bracket and outdoor Ethernet wire are sold separately.
Pros: Smaller unit, can lock onto a specific MAC address, platform independant
Cons: Higher price point

2. Power over Ethernet Connection:Tranzeo TR-CPE90-15f. A 13x12 weatherproof self-contained wireless modem (antenna / CPE). The mounting bracket and outdoor Ethernet wire are sold separately.
Pros: Lower price point, platform independant
Cons: Larger, software can't lock onto a specific MAC address
